25 May 2018 marks the start of a new era of personal data protection brought on by the new European “General Data Protection Regulation” (GDPR). The Regulation will significantly affect the whole business community, since it not only strengthens the rights of individuals in regard of their personal data, but also substantially increases the related penalties, and stipulates other new rules.
On 25 May 2017, we held a workshop for the employees of Expobank CZ a.s., as well as for its corporate clients.. The lectures were given by UEPA GDPR team members JUDr. Ing. Petra Kutková, LL.M., and Mgr. Bc. Tomáš Mudra, who is also a member of the Czech Government working committee for personal data protection legislation. The workshop was aimed at acquainting the participants with the new system of personal data protection introduced by the GDPR, in particular with the new duties imposed on personal data controllers, and their practical impact.
