We would like to inform you that following the government meeting on 05.01.2022, it was decided to reduce the quarantine and isolation periods to five days as of 11.01.2022.

It has also been made compulsory for employers to test all employees twice a week by antigen self-testing from 17.01.2022, with subsequent testing of the employee taking place every 3rd day after the previous testing. The employer must keep records of the testing.

In the event that an employee is not present at the workplace on the testing date, this employee will be tested at his/her next arrival at the workplace.

If an employee refuses to be tested, the employer will be obliged to notify the locally competent public health authority for the place where the employer operates. At the same time, the employee shall be obliged to wear an FFP2 respirator at all times at the workplace, to keep at least 1,5 m apart from other persons and to eat separately from other persons. The employer shall ensure that organisational measures are taken to restrict such employee from meeting other persons.

Persons do not have to test, who:

  • had a negative PCR test performed within the last 72 hours;
  • had a negative AG test performed within the last 24 hours by a health professional;
  • were undergoing a preventive test with another employer.

The employee is required to provide proof of the above to the employer by:

  • a certificate issued by a health care provider;
  • an EU COVID digital certificate;
  • written confirmation from the employee’s other employer that the employee has undergone preventive testing.

In the event of a positive test result, the employee must immediately notify the employer, leave the workplace and provide assistance to the competent public health authorities. The employer shall send a list of those persons, with contact details, who were tested positive to the local public health authority by the day after the testing.

Please also note that the same obligation (self-testing twice a week) also applies to self-employed persons who encounter third parties in the course of their activities.
