The new COVID – Accommodation programme was approved by the government yesterday. It aims at supporting accommodation facilities, which had to close their business premises in consequence of coronavirus prevention measures. According to the Minister of Regional Development, it will be possible to submit applications under this programme during August via an online form.
The decisive period is from March 14th, 2020 to May 24th, 2020. The amount of support will range from 100 to 300 CZK per room and night and will depend not only on the type of accommodation facility, i.e. its category and class, but also on the seasonality of the facility. This means e.g., if the accommodation facility had been closed in the previous two years, it will not be entitled to the support from this programme, or the support will be lowered.
It will be possible to draw from this programme also, if the applicant applied for state support for self-employed persons or small limited liability companies (s.r.o.), but in case the applicant has already received this state support, the contribution from the COVID – Accommodation programme will be reduced by the amount obtained from such other state support. The COVID – Accommodation programme can be combined with the COVID – Health Resort programme and the COVID – Rent programme.
It will be possible to draw the support on the condition that the operator of the accommodation facility did not have financial difficulties until 2019 and did not have arrears on health insurance contributions or arrears in relation to public payment duties on March 14th, 2020.
The COVID – Accommodation programme is still subject to a notification to the European Commission and to an approval by the legislative body.
We will keep you informed of further developments.
